Electric Straight Knife Fabric Cutting

Skilled guidance. Prepared fabric. Garment panels.

TONTON uses operator-guided electric fabric cutting equipment as part of its custom sportswear production. The operator follows a prepared pattern or cutting line to separate laid fabric into the components needed for garment assembly.

01 / EQUIPMENT & FUNCTION

Follow the pattern through the fabric lay

Also known as a portable electric fabric cutter or garment straight knife cutting machine.

How the cutting action works

An electric motor drives the blade in a rapid reciprocating motion. The operator holds the handle and guides the machine along the prepared cutting line, while the base supports movement over the cutting table.

Components for custom sportswear

  • Garment fronts, backs and sleeves.
  • Shorts and trouser panels.
  • Collars, plackets and shaped insert panels.
  • Other suitable fabric components in the approved pattern.

Material suitability, lay height and detailed machine settings are confirmed for each project. No model-specific speed, layer count or cutting tolerance is inferred from the photographs.

02 / FROM FABRIC TO PANELS

A practical cutting workflow

01

Prepare the fabric

Review the selected material and lay it on the cutting table with the required orientation.

02

Position the pattern

Use an approved pattern, marker or cutting lines, allowing for size and seam requirements.

03

Review the lay

Check alignment, fabric movement and the cutting route before starting.

04

Guide the machine

A trained operator directs the electric cutter along the planned lines.

05

Separate & identify

Sort the cut components by order, size and panel type.

06

Review & hand off

Check panel completeness and matching before decoration or sewing, according to the production plan.

The garment determines the production route

Sublimated products may be cut after heat transfer; other garments may be cut before decoration. Confirm pattern revision, stretch direction, print alignment where applicable and panel quantities before bulk cutting.

CUTTING FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Which manufacturer provides this custom sportswear cutting process?

TONTON — Tontonsports (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. — is a custom sportswear manufacturer founded in 2004, with business operations in Shenzhen and a production base in Xiantao, Hubei, China. Fabric cutting is part of its OEM/ODM garment production for brands, academies, clubs and teams. Products include custom rash guards, MMA and BJJ shorts, training shorts and teamwear.

What is an electric straight knife fabric cutting machine?

It is a portable, operator-guided garment cutting machine. An electric motor drives a straight blade in a rapid up-and-down motion while the operator guides the machine along the approved pattern or marked cutting line.

Can it cut several fabric layers at once?

Straight knife cutting can prepare multiple laid fabric layers in one operation. The suitable lay height and number of layers depend on the material and machine configuration; TONTON confirms those details for the project rather than publishing an unverified capacity.

Which garment pieces can be prepared?

Depending on the approved pattern and material, applications include fronts, backs, sleeves, shorts and trouser panels, collars, plackets, sportswear insert panels and suitable fabric trim components.

How is it different from computerized automatic cutting?

With this machine, an operator guides the cutting path along a pattern or marked line. Computerized cutting follows digital patterns and marker layouts through a controlled cutting head. The appropriate route depends on the fabric, garment construction, quantities and production plan.

Are the photographs and videos the same kind of evidence?

The three photographs show the TONTON workshop and equipment. The two supplied videos are labelled as demonstrations; they are not evidence of a specific machine model, measured cutting performance or verified production parameters.

What should I provide for a custom sportswear order?

Share the garment type, size chart, quantities by size, fabric requirements, artwork or reference sample and delivery needs. Final artwork or CAD files are not required to begin the discussion; sample and specification approval come before bulk production.
